It all started on August 5, 2025, with five students from Calabanga Community College. As we pursued our Bachelor of Science in Entrepreneurship, we were faced with a challenge: our Business Implementation subject. This wasn’t just another requirement; it was the moment we had to take every bit of knowledge we gathered throughout our entire college journey and actually bring it to life. We didn’t want to just make sales; we wanted to prove that our innovative ideas could work in the real world.
That is how Seasig-Shift was born. The name tells our story—”Seasig” for our flagship innovation, and “Shift” for the alternative products like desserts, street foods, fresh vegetables, and handcrafted gifts that help us grow and manage our sales as we expand.
But the seed of this idea was planted even earlier, back in 2023, during an Innovation Management class. Our goal was never just to create something new for a grade; we wanted to leave a legacy that our school and the municipality of Calabanga could truly be proud of. We looked toward the Sabang Fish Port, where skilled fishermen strive every day for their living, and we saw an opportunity to innovate. We held onto that vision, waiting for the right time to implement it.
When the time finally came in 2025, our new team found the strength in partnership. We joined forces with VBERT Food Production and established a bond with the small-scale fishermen in Barangay Sabang, supporting their everyday lives while perfecting our products. Today, we proudly offer two variants of our fish sisig—Tanguigue and Abo—in both Classic and Hot & Spicy flavors.
From those humble classroom beginnings, we have pushed ourselves to go further. We’ve joined trade fairs in Naga and Albay, and our products have found a home in the pasalubong centers of Calabanga and Cavite, as well as Terras Altas Cafe in Lagonoy. We’ve traveled across Luzon and the Visayas, with our hearts set on Mindanao next.
By embracing the willingness to risk and the power of partnership, we have expanded from our small region to the bustling streets of NCR and beyond. Seasig-Shift is the story of innovative student thinkers from Calabanga Community College who aim to create a legacy, recognize the hard work of our community, and always find a way to give back.
